 *Composition questions-*

Q1.
Ans.- The question is from the chapter- " The Watchman" written by RK Narayan.

At the beginning of the chapter, the watchman gives us the impression of a dedicated person who closely investigates the security of the tank bund to avoid any unpleasant incident. Next, we find a caring person guiding the girl to move away from the steps. Also, he feels pity and sad to see the tears in the eyes of the girl. And the most important thing is that the watchman even after facing lots of tragedies in his life - by losing his parents at a tender age and also losing his wife and children, is still very strong and guides the girl to face her problems in a positive way. We find a strong and bold person in the character of the Watchman.

Q2.
Ans.- The question is from the chapter- " The Watchman" written by RK Narayan.
The character of the girl and the character of the watchmen are very opposite to each other. There is a significant contrast in their characterization. The girl had lost her mother at a tender age and then lost her father .She was brought up by her stepmother but due to financial problems, she was not able to have higher studies. So she decided to commit suicide.

But in contrast to the girl,  the watchman had lost his parent due to the epidemic cholera and then disowned by his relatives. He lived as an orphan life then he settled himself in a job, got married, and had eight children. But again the tragedy occurs - he lost his wife and seven daughters.
But we are astonished at the positive attitude and boldness of the watchman who encourages the girl to lead a purposeful life instead of breaking down due to the problems of life.
